on inhome service, Seems reliable so far, be warned- the hardware they provide is rubbish- thats cellphones as well! Customer service is extremely poor. I would give telecom 20 out of 10 in comparison. Staff have no clue and if they can possibly stuff it up, they will- then will blame it on something else. Can never get a straight answer out of them. Been tied to telstra on contract for 2 years- Hate them

I have been a long term customer of Telstra cable InHome and while my experience for other ISP's is limited (sacked Telecom to change to Telstra)overall the experience has been excellent for all the Telstra services Internet, Phone and TV. I have had a few support issues especially getting to speak to a CS Representative and long wait delays, the self service online support they offer sucks. I am about to move back to the provinces and leave my fast reliable Telstra Cable service behind. Anyone know a good reliable ISP in the Hawkes Bay?

I occasionally think of returning from the UK to ChCh but the internet prices out there scare me! I've got (upto) 24mB/s ADSL2 for £18 (about $40 at current exch) plus another $40 for the phone line so a TOTAL of $80 for the lot! Downloads are UNLIMITED!

NZ ISP's are ripping you off. Kiwi expat living in Japan. Download 9mbs / Upload 2mbs. No data cap. NZ$75/mth. Thats with an average service ISP. You can find faster/cheaper.

I'm supposed to be on the Lightspeed (10mbps) 20G plan - just upgraded from Highspeed 10G. However on Speed.net I average only 4mbps on NZ servers (e.g. Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. Speed is even slower (as expected) on distant servers. Still planning on inquiring about this over the phone.

Jo: you may have been looking at their ADSL plans, rather than cable.

Just wondering I looked on the telstraclear home page and the basic plans seemed to be 128kbs upload but this says 2mbs? Which one is it?

I have had telstra cable for some time - It's great, very few outages, helpdesk team seem to have a clue

Telstraclear cable is in my experience the only isp that can speed test continuously above its advertised speed at any time of the day,i recomment if you are within its limited rollout that you get one of there cable plans, after being on adsl you will not be disapointed

This is your opportunity to share your experiences of this ISP with other users — is it really as fast as it claims to be? Is their customer service any good? Do they have regular outages, or is their service reliable?

Please keep your comment short and on-topic.
